We are seeking motivated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurses to join our inpatient teams as Nurse Team Leaders at Parklands Hospital. You will support the delivery of a high-quality 24-hour, 7-day service, regularly taking charge of the ward and undertaking delegated duties from the Clinical Ward Manager.

You will provide clinical leadership, supporting staff through supervision, teaching and effective deployment of resources. The role includes assessing care needs, developing and evaluating care plans, setting high standards of care and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement. You will also take responsibility for the supervision and management of junior staff, including during night shifts, and work as an active member of the wider team, leading on a key project or area of practice. Ongoing training, supervision and reflective practice are essential elements of the role.

Parklands Hospital offers diverse inpatient environments:

Hazel Ward (PICU): A secure, low-stimulus setting delivering intensive care with enhanced staffing levels.

Juniper Ward: An 18-bed male ward, including specialist support for Armed Forces patients.

Cherry Ward: An 18-bed female ward providing acute mental health care.

Candidates must indicate their first and second ward preference within the application form.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills in a supportive and recovery-focused environment.

Main duties of the job
  • Contribute to the delivery of a safe, effective 24-hour, seven day inpatient service, ensuring high-quality care at all times.
  • Take charge of the ward regularly, undertaking delegated duties from the Clinical Ward Manager and supporting daily operations.
  • Provide clinical leadership, including coordination, deployment and supervision of staff and students.
  • Participate in the Duty Senior Nurse (DSN) rota, supporting site coordination, escalation and clinical decision-making.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care programmes, maintaining a recovery-focused approach.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of care and safety, addressing risks and driving improvements.
  • Supervise and support junior staff, including during night shifts, acting as a role model.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, contributing to communication and care planning.
  • Lead on a key project or area of practice within the service.
  • Engage in training, supervision and reflective practice to support ongoing development.

Working Pattern: Rotational shift work including early (07:00--15:00), late (13:30--21:30) and night shifts (21:00--07:30), including weekends and bank holidays.
