Job Title: Senior Clinical Pharmacist Band 8a

Remuneration: Dependent on experience, £55-59000 pro rata

Accountable to: Band 8b Lead Clinical Pharmacist
Responsible to: Director of Operations Haringey GP Federation

Main duties of the job
The post holder is an experienced clinical pharmacist who acts within their professional boundaries. They will ideally be working within primary care already and this role would be in addition to their clinical responsibilities.

The post holder will provide 2 leadership and management sessions based at Haringey GP Federation head office in addition to their clinical responsibilities.

The clinical pharmacist team is centrally recruited and managed on behalf of seven primary care networks in Haringey. The post holder will have management responsibilities for Band 7 clinical pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pre-registration pharmacy technicians and Foundation Pharmacists, to support their induction and ongoing development as well as track performance of key deliverables. Key responsibilities for the post holder include (but are not limited to):
  • Delivery of long term conditions strategy for practice(s) and the PCN
  • Leading on our centralised approach to safety alerts, policies and training.
  • Providing mentorship through 1-2-1s for direct line reports. This is with the aim to develop competencies and provide assurance on quality of service provision.
  • Ensuring appropriate direction and progress for PCN pharmacy teams on workstreams agreed with PCNs
  • Contributing towards supervision and support of trainee pharmacists / foundation pharmacists

Haringey GP Federation is a dynamic and growing organisation working in partnership with GP practices across the diverse borough of Haringey, north London. Formed in 2016 by local GPs, we now work alongside over 30 practices within seven Primary Care Networks to help deliver high-quality, accessible healthcare to our local communities.

Our role is to support and enable general practice by developing and delivering services that complement core GP work, creating opportunities for shared learning and innovation, and helping practices respond to the evolving needs of patients and the wider health system.

We work in close partnership with practices, clinicians and system partners to co-design services, pilot new approaches, and build capacity across primary care. Through clinical programmes, workforce development and operational support, our aim is to add value in ways that are practical, respectful and aligned with the priorities of our member practices. Job responsibilities
Responsibilities underpinning the role

To plan and organize own workload, including audit and project work, and training sessions for members of the clinical pharmacy team, GP practice team.

To record personally generated information and maintain a database of information relating to the work done in the practice(s). Personally generated information includes information and records relating to audit and clinical work undertaken by the post holder, reference notes relating to clinical/technical information. The database includes maintaining up-to-date, detailed records of all work done in the practices for which the post holder is accountable (done by the post holder or others)

To maintain registration as a pharmacist and comply with appropriate professional codes.

As appropriate to the post, to maintain and develop professional competence and expertise, keep up to date with medical/therapeutic evidence and opinion, and local and national service, legislation and policy developments, agree objectives and a personal development plan and participate in the appraisal process.

To attend local, regional and national meetings of relevance as agreed with the post holders line manager.

To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post holders grade as agreed with the post holders line manager.

Line manage and mentor pharmacists and technicians and support their development.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Masters degree in pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent
  • Independent Prescribing Qualification
  • Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council
