As a Band 5 Staff Nurse within our Health Visiting Team, youll be part of a supportive and forward-thinking service dedicated to improving outcomes for children and families across Warwickshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a registered nurse with a passion for public health, early intervention and safeguarding to develop their career within a community setting. Working under the supervision of a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor), youll help deliver the Healthy Child Programme and provide targeted support to families who need it most across Leamington Spa and surrounding areas.

About the role
Youll work as part of the Health Visiting Team delivering preventative and supportive healthcare to children and families. The role focuses on early identification of need, safeguarding and providing targeted support to vulnerable families under the supervision of a Health Visitor.

Youll work in partnership with families, Early Years services, Childrens Centres and community organisations to promote health and wellbeing and improve outcomes for children.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting delivery of the Healthy Child Programme
  • Completing Family Health Needs Assessments for mandated reviews
  • Providing targeted interventions and ongoing support to vulnerable families
  • Supporting infant feeding and parentinfant relationships in line with Baby Friendly Initiative standards
  • Delivering behavioural and parenting support using the Solihull Foundation Approach and Five to Thrive
  • Working with families requiring Early Help, Child in Need or Child Protection support (under supervision)
  • Undertaking Looked After Child assessments as required
  • Participating in Healthy Child drop-in clinics and facilitating group sessions (including virtual platforms)
  • Supporting delivery of targeted interventions and support packages for families
  • Maintaining accurate, comprehensive and contemporaneous clinical records
  • Participating in safeguarding supervision, clinical supervision and appraisal processes
  • Acting as a mentor for pre-registration nursing students

The Ideal Candidate
Were looking for a compassionate and motivated nurse who is committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for children and families.

Essential:
  • NMC registration in a field of nursing
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Understanding of child development
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and public health policies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Full driving licence and access to a car
  • Confident IT skills

Desirable:
  • Registered Childrens Nurse
  • Experience working in a community or multi-disciplinary environment
  • Knowledge of behaviour change models
  • Practice supervisor/assessor qualification
  • Interest in progressing to SCPHN (Health Visiting)

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
Essential qualifications for the role include NMC registration in a field of nursing, experience working with children and families, an understanding of child development, knowledge of safeguarding and public health policies, strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, a full driving licence, and confident IT skills. Desirable qualifications include being a Registered Childrens Nurse, having experience working in a community or multi-disciplinary environment, knowledge of behaviour change models, a practice supervisor/assessor qualification, and an interest in progressing to SCPHN (Health Visiting).
