Description

Home, a place where you belong
At Home Group, we believe everyone deserves a safe place to call home, and a great place to build their career. Our Health and Social Care apprenticeships give you the chance to earn while you learn, gain a recognised qualification, and make a real difference to people and communities.

You don’t need previous experience to join us, but you do have to be one of our customers or former Home Group customer, and/or living in a Home Group property. What matters most is your potential, values and motivation.

Why choose a Home Group apprenticeship?
  • Get paid while gaining a fully funded, industry-recognised qualification
  • Dedicated mentor and on-the-job support from day one
  • Protected study time built into your working week
  • Access to the same benefits, awards and recognition as permanent colleagues
  • A welcoming, inclusive culture where you can be yourself
  • Real opportunities to progress into a permanent role and continue your career with us.

Our apprenticeships are open to all ages and backgrounds, whether you’re starting out, changing direction, or returning to work. However, we are unable to offer a CoS for this role.

About the role
You’ll work towards your Level 2 Adult Care Work qualification over 15 months, learning on the job as part of a supportive team. From day one, you’ll be a valued team member, getting stuck into meaningful, hands-on work and supporting your colleagues. You’ll take on real responsibilities while building your skills and confidence with the right support around you. You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check and we pay for that.

You’ll learn how to:
  • Support customers to build independence and develop essential life skills
  • Work as part of a diverse team to build confidence and achieve goals
  • Learn on the job with support from a mentor in a similar role
  • Work with an apprenticeship partner to achieve a recognised qualification
  • Balance practical experience with support from your tutor and team

What qualification will you gain?
  • Adult Care Worker, Level 2 apprenticeship
  • Delivered by Derwentside College

You’ll combine on-the-job learning with structured study, building skills and confidence that will support your long-term career.

What happens next?
We’re proud of our track record in supporting apprentices to progress. Many of our apprentices move into permanent roles or continue their development through high-level apprenticeships or professional qualifications.
This is more than a job; it’s a pathway into a career.

Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for people who:
  • Are keen to learn and develop new skills
  • Share our values and want to make a difference
  • Are organised, curious and willing to ask questions
  • Enjoy working with people and being part of a team

You don’t need previous experience; we’ll support you every step of the way.

Stronger together
We do our best work when we’re ourselves. That’s why inclusion, wellbeing, and our diversity networks help make Home Group a great place to work.

Finally
For reasonable adjustments email recruitment@homegroup.org.uk. Roles can close early, so don’t delay applying. If you can’t see the Job Description at the top of this page, click APPLY to view it on our pages and find out more about us.
