Job summary

We are looking to appoint Band 6 Specialist Nurse to our Children's ADHD Intervention Team. This is an exciting opportunity for mental health/learning disability nurse with experience of mental health to progress their skills working within the Neurodevelopment Service
The team includes a Clinical Team Leader, Consultant Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Speciality Doctor, Pharmacists, Specialist Nurses/Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Nurse Associates, and Healthcare Assistant.
In line with the Trust secondment policy please ensure if you are an internal applicant you have your Line Managers approval prior to making an application for secondment

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have strong engagement skills, excellent communication skills and some experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and professions.
The successful candidate will be working on the management of the Priority waiting list for ADHD Intervention, offering support, guidance and signposting when an where possible.
The Children's ADHD Intervention Team work closely with our other Neuro and CAMHS pathways and will support young people whilst they are waiting for an Intervention in the service.
Experience of working with young people with emotional or mental health difficulties or working in a Neurodevelopment setting is essential.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse on NMC live register
  • Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. The Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion

Desirable
  • Evidence of CPD or experiential learning at an advanced level e.g. Postgraduate/Masters level
  • Leadership training/qualification/experience

Skills
Essential
  • Effective inter-personal skills and experience in supervising and mentoring
  • Able to demonstrate effective communication skills

Experience
Essential
  • Previous community based experience or band 6 experience transferrable to community setting
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care
