Job summaryPlease note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore HTFT would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.We are seeking an experienced and motivated Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Children's Occupational Therapy Service, supporting children and young people with physical disabilities (aged 0-19 years). While this post is primarily based in the East Riding area of the Trust, the role also includes service-wide oversight and contribution to the quality and consistency of care across the Trust's geographical area, and will require working across the wider area as needed.
This is a key role focused on delivering high-quality, specialist care, while also providing clinical supervision and specialist Occupational Therapy advice across multiple settings, including homes, clinics, and schools.
The Specialist Occupational Therapist will be responsible for managing their own clinical caseload and will demonstrate specialist clinical reasoning, leadership, and decision-making skills. The role involves promoting best practice, supporting service development, and taking responsibility for complex case management and professional development within the team.
A Band 5 to Band 6 Development Post will be considered, depending on relevant experience.

- Deliver specialist clinical care to children and young people with complex physical needs.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of high standards of care and service delivery across the wider service.
- Support and mentor junior staff and students, providing clinical supervision and promoting best practice.

- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and partner agencies to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to care.
- Demonstrate and maintain up-to-date Occupational Therapy knowledge and skills.

Person SpecificationQualifications and KnowledgeEssential- Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Specialist knowledge of occupational therapy models of practice, standardised assessments, and their use in practice
- Evidence of practice educator SLIP training and experience of supervision of OT students
- Competent IT skills to be able to use corporate systems and Electronic Patient Record systems.
Desirable- Evidence of current CPD/formal qualifications at an advanced level e.g. degree or post graduate level or equivalent
- Willingness to consider undertaking the training required to provide Practice Placements for students.
- Full understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application to clinical and service area
ExperienceEssential- Appropriate knowledge/experience of working in the relevant service area
