Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit one Whole-Time Equivalent Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our well-established Speech and Language Therapy team, which provides services across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

The post is within our Specialist Community Team and is suitable for a therapist interested in working with a range of speech, language, and social communication needs across clinic, home, and educational settings. The base location will be agreed depending on the successful applicant's area of work within Hull and/or the East Riding.

Main Duties of the Job

• To prioritise, plan and manage a specialist caseload, delegating tasks to others as appropriate
• To demonstrate specialist clinical skills and provide support and advice re the delivery of care in partnership with children, relatives, staff, managers, and externally with other agencies.
• To provide high quality assessments and treatment plans which are evidenced based
• To maintain, as part of continual professional development, up to date clinical specialist knowledge/skills
• To provide day to day clinical supervision for SLT assistants, students and other co-workers as required
• To provide training within own area of specialism to other professionals and carers

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential

• Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
• Current registration with HCPC and RCSLT
• Professional knowledge acquired through degree, state registration, short specialist courses (e.g.Post Graduate module in dysphagia or other clinical speciality) plus equivalent knowledge and experience in specialist field e.g children and evidence of CPD

Desirable

• Teaching qualification or equivalent presentation skills/training experience
• Leadership qualification/equivalent experience if required
• Recent experience as a supervisor and placement educator

Experience
Essential

• Evidence of promoting/supporting active patient/relative involvement/participation
• Evidence of providing therapy input in education settings, both directly and indirectly through consultation and enabling others to facilitate change
• Evidence of planning and delivering training to support SLCN development in education settings

Skills and Competencies
Essential

• Able to demonstrate effective communication skills and work flexibly within the team/service
• Ability to effectively commute between the organisations various sites
• Working knowledge of Trust policies and procedures
