Job summaryWest London Children's Healthcare is offering an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and innovative paediatric service as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in Respiratory Care (Band 8a), based at St Mary's Hospital.
This senior clinical leadership role sits within an integrated system across two major NHS trusts, delivering specialist respiratory services across multiple sites and working closely with community, primary care and wider system partners to improve outcomes for children and young people.
The ACP Respiratory role provides an exceptional opportunity to lead and influence the delivery of specialist respiratory services, including asthma, complex respiratory conditions and long-term ventilation pathways. Working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis and management, while driving improvements across acute, community and integrated care pathways.
There is a particular focus on improving outcomes for children and young people with complex respiratory needs and those from underserved communities.

Main duties of the jobThis post is Advance Clinical Practitioner in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine and Asthma, with 60% clinical practice, and 40% academic time funded by the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)
- The ACP role will be 60% clinical, working collaboratively with the clinical team caring for children and young people undergoing treatment
- This role is aimed at developing ways of working for all Respiratory nurses and the medical team with the inpatient, outpatient and paediatric day unit, enabling them to take on roles and responsibilities that would complement the current services delivered.
- The ACP will play a pivotal role in proving essential continuity of competent, comprehensive and co-ordinated care for children and their families.
- The ACP will integrate into the existing Respiratory team to carry out extended roles which will include routine management of children and young people undergoing treatment.
- Using advanced clinical decision making and assessment skills, the ACP will assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical care and management of children and people undergoing treatment

Education & QualificationsEssential- RN Child/RSCN
- Post registration qualification in specialty
- Non-medical prescriber V300
- Educated to postgraduate MSc/PGDip in Advanced Clinical Practitioner
- Management certificate or equivalent experience

- IRMER Qualification
- Apheresis Competence
Experience & KnowledgeEssential- Sound knowledge and understanding of specialty
