Job summary
As part of our service development, we have identified a significant unmet need in menopause support for breast cancer patients. We have secured funding from an external funder to develop a menopause support service.

We are looking for a motivated registered nurse with experience in breast oncology care to join our oncology breast service . The post holder will be expected to work autonomously as part of a team. This role is part time, 22.5 hours per week for a fixed term contract of 23 months.

The successful candidate will be expected todevelop and implement a new endocrine therapy support service. In addition, the successful candidate will also be expected to play an active role in designing and refining care pathways, develop standard operating procedures, create patient information resources, and establish collaborative working processes between primary and secondary care. They will help identify service needs, analyse patient experience and activity data, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives that strengthen the endocrine survivorship pathway.

Main duties of the job
  • The Nurse Practitioner for Breast Oncology will provide specialist nursing support to people with early breast cancer who are receiving endocrine therapy and experiencing treatment-related side effects, including therapy-induced menopause. The postholder will use advanced assessment and specialist clinical knowledge to provide holistic symptom management, patient education, and ongoing supportive care that promotes treatment adherence and enhances quality of life.
  • Working in close collaboration with the GP with Special Interest (GPwSI) in menopause, breast oncology consultants, Breast CNS teams, and the wider multidisciplinary workforce, the NP will contribute to a coordinated, person-centred model of survivorship care. Their role will include undertaking specialist assessments, offering tailored advice for managing endocrine therapy side effects, supporting primary-secondary care communication, and ensuring patients have timely access to appropriate clinical expertise.
  • A core component of the post is the development and implementation of a new endocrine therapy support service.
  • The NP will act as a knowledgeable clinical resource, champion evidence-based management of menopause and endocrine therapy side effects, and support the delivery of sustainable, integrated models of care that reduce variation, improve patient experience, and optimise outcomes.

  • NMC registration and a degree in related subject
  • A post registration qualification(s) in area of practice Breast Cancer Care
  • Recognised physical assessment module at level 7
  • Recognised teaching qualification or demonstratable experience
