Job summary
An Exciting Opportunity to Join a Leading Breast Care Service

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our established Breast Care Team.

Working alongside the Breast Nurse Consultant, an existing Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a highly skilled team of Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery and development of breast cancer services.

This is a varied, autonomous and rewarding role, offering opportunities to influence service development, contribute to research and education, and deliver expert clinical care to patients

About the Role
The post holder will provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for patients presenting with benign and malignant breast conditions.

You will work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care in an outpatient setting.

Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and developing management plans for patients with breast conditions.
  • Providing expert care throughout the patient pathway, from initial presentation through diagnosis and follow-up.
  • Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic breast conditions.
  • Requesting, interpreting and acting upon diagnostic investigations, including imaging and pathology results.
  • Performing and requesting diagnostic procedures in accordance with service guidelines.
  • Providing expert clinical advice and support through face-to-face clinics and telephone services.
  • Communicating complex and sensitive information to patients and families with empathy and professionalism.
  • Acting as an advocate for patients and ensuring psychological, emotional and physical needs are addressed appropriately.

Job responsibilities
The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across professional boundaries.

Essential
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent.
  • Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Demonstrable experience managing patients with breast disease.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a complex caseload.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.

Desirable
  • Experience in audit, service development and research.
  • Teaching and mentorship experience.
  • Breast examination Qualification (or willingness to undertake)

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Nurse
  • Post Graduate Diploma (PgDip) or Masters (MSc) qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice or HEE accepted equivalence.
  • Independent Prescriber

Desirable
  • Qualification in Oncology/SACT/Breast conditions

Experience
Essential
  • A registered healthcare professional
  • Meet Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) revalidation standards

Desirable
  • Experience caring/treating patient with cancer
  • Experience of working autonomously at an advanced level

Skills
Essential
  • Excellent written and advanced verbal communication skills.
  • Evidence of research, education leadership, Quality Improvement, stakeholder engagement and influencing the development and improvement of practice, patient care, patient safety and service delivery.
  • Evidence of advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of speciality with a wide range of approaches to the management of patients
  • Ability to manage change and contain conflict ensuring resolution with positive outcomes, with use of negotiation skills
