Job summaryWe are offering an opportunity to apply for a Salaried GP Position at Island City Practice (ICP). We require 4-8 sessions and offer competitive remuneration rates. Our practice aims to be Innovative, Caring and Professional. ICP is a friendly and supportive environment for GPs to practice safely and effectively with a manageable and sustainable workload. The Practice has embraced a Modern General Practice approach that effectively triages demand and embraces care delivered by a multi-professional team.
Main duties of the jobWe offer a dynamic mix of chronic and acute work, using Anima alongside SystmOne for our triage system. GPs at the practice work in small GP teams and hold their own personalised list. This gives balances continuity of care but with the stability and resilience of working in a larger practice. Our Triage Team is multidisciplinary, including GPs, Advanced Nursing and Paramedic Practitioners for same day care. In addition to routine GP clinics, we run a highly organised nurse led chronic disease service and offer excellent Treatment room care. We have a fully developed PCN ARRS team including Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, Social Prescribers, First Contact Physiotherapy, Mental Health Facilitators and an Occupational Therapist.

Job responsibilities- ln accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion;
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation;
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems;
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness;
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols;
- Providing counselling and health education;
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate;
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards;
- Collecting data for audit purposes;
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible);
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate;
- ln general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK.
- Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary and skill mixed team environment.
Desirable- Evidence of independent working in General Practice.
- Experience of supporting service change.
- Evidence of participation in Audit.
- Evidence of participation in QOF.

QualificationsEssential- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and licence to practice.
