Job summary
To work and participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team providing high standards of care for patients with complex dental problems that cannot be treated in the General Dental Practice(s). The post holder will provide a range of dental nursing and oral surgery skills to support the dental clinic and Oral Surgeons

Main duties of the job
Provide high-quality chairside and clinical support within Oral Surgery clinics, working independently to prioritise workloads and meet patient and clinician needs. Support oral surgery procedures, monitor patients undergoing sedation, manage dental emergencies, and deliver compassionate patient care. Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients and carers, provide treatment advice, maintain accurate records using Trust systems, and ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures. Work collaboratively to deliver a safe, efficient and patient-centred service.

Job responsibilities
Provide high-quality chairside support during Oral Surgery clinics and procedures. Work independently to manage and prioritise workload within a busy clinical environment. Assist in the management of dental emergencies and respond appropriately to complications. Monitor patients undergoing sedation and escalate concerns promptly. Prepare clinics, equipment and treatment areas to support effective service delivery. Provide patients and carers with information, advice and support before and after procedures. Communicate effectively with consultants, clinicians, nursing staff, patients and external healthcare professionals. Use professional judgement and initiative to address patient needs and enquiries within agreed protocols. Maintain compliance with Trust policies, procedures and clinical governance requirements. Utilise Trust IT systems to support patient care and clinic administration. Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care while promoting dignity, respect and inclusion. Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and share best practice to support excellent standards of dental nursing care.

Qualifications

• Current professional registration with the General Dental Council (GDC)
• Educated to GCSE or equivalent with C pass above in English and Mathematics

Experience

• Recent (within the past year) chairside experience in dental practice

Desirable

• Previous hospital experience / surgical experience necessary
