Main duties of the job

• Assisting patients with personal care
• Assisting patients to investigations (CT/X-ray)
• Ensuring nutritional needs are met
• Observing and completing cleaning schedules

Skills needed (training will be offered to right candidate); Venepuncture, ECG monitoring, cannulation, observation recording, taking patients blood sugars

Qualifications
Essential

• Educated to Vocational Qualification/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of education, training or experience
• Care Certificate or equivalent level of education, training or experience

Knowledge
Essential

• One year experience as a healthcare assistant experience in Hospital care setting
• Ability to overcome communication barriers
• Experience of working as part of a team

Desirable

• Surgical experience and knowledge of anatomy
• Knowledge of the ward area/functioning

Skills
Essential

• Basic care assistant skills
• The ability to accurately/legibly document care that have been delivered within the patients case notes
• Able to prioritise attention to patients delegated from RN
• Hand/eye co-ordination
• Health and Safety

Desirable

• Practical ability to undertake venepuncture bloods
• The use of Medway x Dementia awareness
• Learning disabilities awareness
• Concentrate on the care of patient on a routine basis
• Able to deal with multiple tasks
