Job summary
This post is for our Paediatric Emergency Department

The Nursing and Midwifery Council is the regulator for nursing and midwifery professions in the UK. Applicants that don't currently have the required registration will not be successful.

Currently hold and NMC pin or working towards gaining this within the next 3-6 months.

Are you passionate about providing rapid assessment and treatment to patients in the initial phase of illness or trauma and often in life threatening situations? Do you have excellent communication and organisational skills and a commitment to continued professional development and delivering excellent patient care?

We are looking for highly motivated Nursing Associates who have experience in an acute setting or previous experience working within an Emergency Department setting and wish to further develop their clinical and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job
The Nursing Associate (NA) will assist the nursing team in the delivery of direct care to patients within Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The NA will be required to provide care independently providing a holistic, high quality, patient focused, comprehensive, efficient and safe service for the patients cared for at Kettering General Hospital acting with responsibility, accountability and integrity as directed and delegated by the nurse in charge, including the delivery of care to meet a cohort of patients; admission and discharge processes, meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of patients; and will be included within the registered staff numbers.

This post works within a multidisciplinary team with registered and non-registered staff.

Essential
  • Evidence of time management skills and ability to prioritise
  • Evidence of catheterisation, cannulation, ECG, venepuncture, Peak flow
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities

Desirable
  • Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of the workload
  • Willing to develop skills in capillary gases

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
  • Understanding of NMC Code of Conduct and Nursing Associate proficiency's
  • Understanding of NMC Code of Conduct and Nursing Associate proficiency's
  • Understanding of the importance of the promotion of health and well-being (Making Every Contact Count)

Desirable
  • Experience in a acute setting

Educations, Training and Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Nursing Associate
  • Registered Nursing Associate within next 3-6 months

  • Practice supervisor qualification or equivalent
