Job summaryFixed Term Contract - end date 1st August 2027. This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week.Ashton Ward is a 24 bedded trauma and elective ward. We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse or Newly Qualified Nurse to join our dedicated and supportive team.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality, holistic, patient-centred care in a safe and efficient manner. You will be expected to practice in accordance with the NMC Code, Trust policies, and local clinical standards, ensuring patients receive compassionate and evidence-based care at all times. The role requires you to act with professionalism, accountability and integrity, including escalating and reporting any concerns, incidents, or poor practice appropriately.
You will utilise resources effectively and contribute to continuous service improvement, supporting innovations that enhance patient experience and outcomes. As part of a flexible workforce, you may be required to work across other wards and departments to support service provision and meet patient care needs.
Ashton Ward cares for both trauma and elective patients ( major joint replacements). This provides an excellent opportunity to develop a broad clinical skill set in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
Main duties of the jobThe Registered Nurse will use resources effectively and contribute to service development, quality improvement, and change initiatives to enhance patient care.
Provide high-quality, holistic, patient-centred care within own scope of competence, seeking support when required. Act as a professional role model, promoting best practice and contributing to a positive team environment and continuous improvement.
Undertake clinical and risk assessments, ensuring accurate, timely documentation in line with NMC and Trust standards. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team, escalating concerns appropriately and supporting safe handovers. Deliver clear, compassionate information, adapting communication to meet individual needs.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure all patient records, including consent, are accurate, secure, and compliant with legal and professional standards. Demonstrate awareness of safeguarding processes, including the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Support ward service delivery and team workload as required. Maintain up-to-date NMC registration and comply with Trust policies, including attendance, leave, and mandatory training. Actively contribute to effective team working.
