Job summary
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner, providing specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention to clients within the acute inpatient care of the elderly service. The post holder is responsible for managing a caseload of clients with complex needs, including where appropriate contributing to safe, multidisciplinary team discharge planning.

In addition to their clinical responsibilities the post holder will lead the ongoing development of this service with assistance from the inpatient OT operational lead, and in line with local and national clinical guidelines. They will also be responsible for planning and delivering high quality teaching to OT's, students and other professionals, whilst maintaining their own professional and highly specialist knowledge base related to senior health and wellbeing.

The job role is primarily Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm (37.5 hours per week), however the post holder will also be expected to contribute to the weekend rota.

Main duties of the job
  • Leading and developing the care of the elderly Occupational Therapy service
  • Developing and supporting junior staff members
  • Strong clinical reasoning, assessment , treatment and discharge planning skills with regards to complex patients across but not limited to functional, social, environmental and psychology factors
  • Support of the overall Occupational Therapy service in alignment with the NHS 10 year plans
  • Complex risk management , clinical training and development, staff management, clinical governance and support of pillars of practice, good communication skills, good MDT working, and very strong clinical skills.

Clinical - Essential
  • current HCPC registration
  • 2 years of B6 experience
  • experience of supervising staff

  • previous experience in COE

  • experience of complex equipment provision
