Job summaryWe are seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide fixed-term maternity leave cover in our Trust wide Intensive Support Team.
The team works with care homes to deliver highly specialised assessments and interventions for people with dementia experiencing distress and behaviours that challenge. Applicants must have a genuine passion for supporting people living with dementia, alongside a strong commitment to the principles of Positive Behaviour Support and person-centred care.
You will be joining a friendly, supportive team and will receive regular clinical, management and professional supervision from a senior Clinical Psychologist and Occupational Therapist. The team meets monthly to share learning and experience, champion the rights of older people, and help shape local services.

Main duties of the jobIn this role you will be working across East and North West Surrey Neighbourhood Mental Health teams.
You will provide highly specialist assessments and interventions for people living in care homes who present with complexity and behaviours expressing unmet needs.
You will undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans.
You will contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and provide consultation, supervision and training to CMHT colleagues delivering psychosocial assessments and interventions for people with dementia living in care homes.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- HCPC registered professional.
- Occupational Therapy profession qualification; Relevant Masters level qualification or its equivalent through degree level qualification plus specialist training courses.
Desirable- Clinical supervision training.
- Leadership training.
- Fieldwork educators training.
- Additional academic clinical qualification relevant to area of work.
ExperienceEssential- Extensive and relevant post qualification clinical experience with people with dementia who have complex needs.
- Knowledge and experience of positive behaviour support or similar models.
- Experience of providing supervision.
- Extensive experience of applying occupational frames of reference and approaches.
- Highly specialist knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models.
