Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our nurse-led Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Day Case Unit (J80) on a full-time, 12-month secondment.

J80 is a dynamic and fast-paced department, caring for approximately 70-90 patients each day who attend for a wide range of day-case treatments. We are seeking an experienced registered nurse with a strong background in haematology, oncology, or a related speciality, together with experience in the administration and delivery of SACT.

This is an excellent leadership opportunity for a skilled and experienced nurse with a broad range of clinical expertise, who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and supporting patients with complex needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and managing this specialist service while working alongside the Senior Sisters to support the day-to-day management and ongoing development of the unit.

You will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and will be responsible for supporting and developing the nursing team, promoting professional standards and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care. Experience in administering intravenous chemotherapy would be a significant advantage.

We are committed to supporting both personal and professional development and will provide opportunities tailored to the successful candidate's learning and career aspirations.

If you are looking for an exciting leadership role within a specialist oncology service and are committed to providing exceptional care for patients receiving systemic anti-cancer treatments, we would love to hear from you.

Why you should join our Team
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest and busiest acute hospital trusts in the UK, providing local and specialist healthcare services to patients across Leeds, Yorkshire and beyond.

The Trust employs more than 20,000 staff and delivers care to around 1.8 million patients each year across seven hospitals on five sites.

It is a nationally recognised centre for specialist services, education, research and innovation, with strong links to the universities of Leeds and Leeds Beckett.

The Trust is committed to delivering the highest quality specialist and integrated care, underpinned by The Leeds Way values of being Responsible, Open and Honest, One Team and Kind.

What you will bring to the role
As a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership and operational management of our busy SACT Day Case Unit. Working closely with the Senior Sisters, you will coordinate patient flow, oversee the safe delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy, and ensure the highest standards of patient-centred care are maintained.

You will provide clinical leadership, support and develop junior staff, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and act as a role model for professional practice. The role requires excellent organisational, communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage a fast-paced environment while supporting patients with complex oncology and haematology needs.

J80 is a fast-paced and busy daycase unit delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT) 7 days per week, treating approximately 80 patients per day.

The Unit is open 07:30am – 19:30pm Monday – Friday.

07:30am – 18:30pm on Saturdays and 07:30am – 16:00pm on Sundays.
