We are delighted to be recruiting for Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse positions within our fast-paced and dynamic Emergency Department at Pinderfields Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate nurses to join our senior clinical nursing team and help shape the delivery of high-quality emergency care. Our department provides care to patients with a wide range of presentations and varying levels of acuity, making every shift both challenging and rewarding.

  • Can effectively coordinate clinical areas and support patient flow.

  • Have the enthusiasm and resilience to lead teams through the challenges of a busy Emergency Department.

The role involves working across a 24-hour service, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties
  • Manage the department and co-ordinate the delivery of skilled, effective care and timely discharge.
  • Ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
  • Deliver expert nursing care, leading the team by example.
  • Provide advice and supervision to junior staff.
  • Actively participate in the development of the Emergency Department service by using innovation and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide support to the Band 7 Sisters and assist with managing the teams.
  • We are looking for a knowledgeable highly skilled motivated individual's who works calm under pressure to lead the running of the Department on a shift basis
  • Ensuring high quality patient care is been provided within the department and support with flow through the department ensuring Emergency Department standards are maintained and targets met.
  • We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and professional individuals who would join a highly motivated, experienced and dynamic team. The successful candidate would be able to organise their work load, work well under pressure be flexible in their approach to changing needs and demands of the organisation, follow instructions under pressure and use their own initiative.
  • Applicants need to have experience in acute care ideally in the Emergency department. To manage flow through the department and manage the nursing teams be able to prioritise patient needs and care for acutely unwell patients.

Essential requirements
Qualifications
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Evidence of Continual Professional Development
  • University Accredited Nurse
  • Nursing/Critical Care Nursing or equivalent;
  • Post Registration Qualification in Mentorship/Training;

Experience
  • Sufficient or significant proven experience as a senior band 5/junior sister
  • Evidence of participating in the development of patient care

Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate self and others
  • Administration of intravenous medicines
