Job summary
This an exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and well-motivated doctor to join our busy unit.

There is the opportunity to support the candidate gain experience in the Royal College of O&G core curriculum. Educational and Clinical supervision will be provided, and the candidate will be encouraged to engage with the eportfolio to document training competencies. In addition to clinical experience, there is the opportunity to develop teaching skills due to the close links to King's College London School of Medicine. Further opportunities will include participation in clinical governance processes and presentation of audit projects.

The post is afixed termcontract,based at the Queen Elizabeth site,withsome potentialto extend by mutual agreement.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will participate in the 1:13 full shift rota providing cover for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology in a three-tier system. The on-call team comprises an SHO (two SHOs 0800-1700), two registrars and a Consultant. The consultant is resident from 0800 2000 to support high-quality care and outstanding training opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to develop skills towards specialty O&G applications or gaining experience of NHS systems.

Essential
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Enquiring, critical approach to work.

Experience
Essential
  • Experience of NHS hospital medicine
  • Shows an understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and corporate risk

Desirable
  • Completed one of the following courses: ALS, ATLA or APLS

Education and Qualifications
Essential
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills
  • Has full GMC registration with a licence to practice

Desirable
  • BSc or other further post graduate qualification
  • Completion of multiprofessional training in emergencies e.g. Prompt
  • Medical qualifications MRCOG Part 1 (UK) or equivalent
