This Advert is for 2 Posts.The post holder(s) will run a range of clinics based at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL). This post will include general adult, paediatrics dermatology clinics, skin cancer clinics and biopsy lists. The post also includes inpatient review of acute dermatology referrals. We are looking for dynamic applicants who are committed to excellence in patient care and are forward-looking as we explore innovative ways of delivering our services.
Main duties of the job- Provide high quality Dermatology care in out-patient clinics and perform high quality surgery within the appropriate level of
- Attend required MDT and CPD events
- Perform regular ward rounds with clinical There is no out of hours on call commitment but the Dermatology team are closely involved in the care of in-patients where needed.
- Provide high quality support to GP colleagues in hospital and
- Provide leadership to the department, encouraging development of services with colleagues both in and outside the organisation.

Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesThe job plan is anticipated to contain 1.8 WTE (18 Programmed Activities) per week on average to be carried out at the UHL site. This is an outline programme and you will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including your personal and professional objectives with your Clinical Lead within 3 months of your start date.
The job plan will be negotiated between the consultant and his/her Clinical Lead at least annually.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP
- GMC registration and hold a License to Practice
- On the GMC specialist register for Dermatology or hold CCT in Dermatology or be within six months of obtaining CCT at date of interview or equivalent experience.
Desirable- Distinctions, scholarships, prizes Other higher degrees, e.g. BSc, PhD, MD.MSc, MD, PhD
Clinical ExperienceEssential- Comprehensive clinical experience in Dermatology
Clinical SkillsEssential- Significant expertise in the management of secondary dermatology, cancer, general adult and paediatric dermatology patients
Desirable- Subspecialty training and interest to compliment service and development
Teaching ExperienceEssential- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
Desirable- Formal Teaching qualification.
- Evidence of ability to lead and develop a teaching programme
Management & Administrative ExperienceEssential- Communication; Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate.
- Accountability; Ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority.
- Staff Management; Experience of performance management, developing and motivating staff.
- Finance; Knowledge of finance and budgets.
Desirable- Experience in service business case
- An understanding of corpocracy in the NHS
- Service development or improvement projects
Research ExperienceEssential- Knowledge of research methodology and clinical trials
Desirable- Evidence of personal research projects and their presentation.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
