Job summary
We are seeking an experienced clinical Pharmacy leaderto shape and deliver specialist pharmacy care to Rheumatology patients.

This senior role leads medicines optimisationacross Rheumatology.

You will work closely with medical, nursing and AHPcolleagues to improve patient outcomes.

You will provide expert advice on complex careand lead innovation in medicines use.

As part of the Pharmacy Leadership Team,you will influence strategy across the Group.

You will be an independent prescriber,clinically credible and values-driven.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead specialist clinical pharmacy services
  • Provide expert advice for complex patients
  • Prescribe independently within agreed scope
  • Attend and contribute to ward and board rounds
  • Lead medicines optimisation and patient safety
  • Develop and implement clinical guidelines
  • Drive service improvement and innovation
  • Support clinical governance and risk management
  • Line manage and develop pharmacy staff
  • Support education, training and supervision
  • Manage specialist medicines budgets
  • Horizon scan new treatments and technologies
  • Promote cost-effective use of medicines
  • Represent pharmacy at internal and external forums
  • Deputise for senior pharmacy leaders as required

TheRoyal Liverpool University Hospital is the largest hospital in the country to provide inpatients with 100% single en-suite bedrooms and mainly focuses on complex planned care and specialist services.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Vocational Master's Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registered as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council GB
  • Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience
  • Independent Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP)

Desirable
  • Management qualification

Experience
Essential
  • Managing a team
  • Delivering a relevant specialist pharmacist role in acute care

Desirable
  • Experience of prescribing biologic/ immunomodulating therapy

Knowledge & Skills
Essential
  • Working knowledge of medicine related legal and pharmaceutical regulations
  • Excellent communication skills - written
  • Methodical and attention to detail
