Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high-quality multi-professional learning environments within the Trust and will be required to work locally within services where inter-professional learning opportunities can be provided. The post holder will be required to support the Quality and Strategy Team, which may require cross-boundary working.

  • Work with the Specialist Palliative Care Strategy & Quality team to improve end of life care across the Trust and partner organisations through the delivery of education and training to staff through formal and informal sessions including ward-based training.
  • Improve knowledge and confidence across organisational boundaries in sharing best practice.
  • Support the implementation of all local palliative and end of life care tools across the organisation and ensure that the tools are available for use.
  • Work with the Quality and Strategy team to identify areas of need/development and assist in the delivery of management plans to resolve the needs identified.
  • Actively participate in local, regional and national audits
  • Working with the Quality & Strategy team to support the delivery of the Palliative, End of Life and Bereavement Strategy
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills when communicating with professionals across the organisation to convey key messages about potential changes in practice relating to palliative and end-of-life care provision.

Main duties of the job
oSupport the specialist palliative care team and palliative and end-of-life project lead to develop staff confidence and competence when using end-of-life tools.

o Provide clinical support and be an expert resource for the implementation and ongoing appropriate use of end-of-life tools across allclinical areas.

o Signpost staff to appropriate palliative and end-of-life resources to guide care.

o Be a clinical role model through attending safety huddles and board rounds to promote the timely and appropriate use of palliative care resources and end-of-life tools.

o Provide ward-based training for professionals delivering end-of-life care, promoting the timely use of appropriate end-of-life tools.

o Work with the Palliative Care and End of Life Project Lead to address specific developmental needs relating to the use of local end-of-life tools.

o know about local and national initiatives relating to palliative and end of life care and ensure own compliance with regards to role-specific and essential training.

Qualifications
Essential
  • 1 st level degree
  • Professional qualification, to a minimum of degree level, with up to date professional registration
  • Willingness to undertake Masters level study relating to education in practice

Desirable
  • European Computer Driving License

Experience
Essential
  • Broad range of clinical experience
  • Experience of teaching, supervising and assessing healthcare students in the practice setting
  • Experience of having worked across professional and organizational boundaries
  • Practical experience of facilitating change
  • Staff management/staff supervision
  • Experience of developing and implementing new systems and procedures

Knowledge
Essential
  • Knowledge of different methods/ styles for teaching and learning
  • Detailed understanding of curriculum development including the generation of learning outcomes
  • Detailed understanding of a range of regulatory body requirements
  • In depth knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and framework
  • Working knowledge of Inter-professional learning theory
