Job SummaryWe are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated practice nurse to join our dynamic clinical team. The successful candidate will ideally have experience working as a nurse in Primary Care.

Main Duties of the Job- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
- Cervical Smears/Cytology
- Long-term conditions reviews (e.g. diabetic checks, asthma checks, care planning, non-diabetic hyperglycaemia checks)
- Routine immunisations (e.g. shingles, pneumococcal, flu)
- Childhood vaccinations
- Contraception / pill checks
- Wound care / ulcer care / Removal of Sutures/Doppler
- New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
- Travel vaccinations (desirable)
- ECGs
- Asthma/Peak Flow Readings(desirable)
- Venepuncture/Phlebotomy
- Hypertension Management
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
About UsWe are a Practice with 5 Partnered GPs and 5 Salaried GPs, and 3 Nursing colleagues, a Senior Health Care Assistant and a GPA. You will be supported by a strong Management team consisting of a Practice Manager, two Operation Managers, and two Team Leads working across Admin and Reception.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Appropriate, valid NMC registration
- Competency and valid certification in all key duties e.g. smears, childhood vaccinations, phlebotomy, ECG etc.
Desirable- Experience with EMIS clinical system
- Prior experience of working in a GP practice
