Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Paediatric Nurse to join the London North West Hospital's NHS Trust Paediatric Diabetes Team. The post holder will primarily provide a service for the Paediatric Diabetes Patients in Ealing, Brent and Harrow and cross-site working will be required.

The post requires an enthusiastic paediatric nurse with experience working in with children with diabetes, to deliver a nursing service as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be required to provide evidence based care and advice for children with Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes, newly diagnosed education, insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring.

Please note this job role includes cross site working across Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals and their community settings.

The post holder will work closely with other members of the London North West Hospital's NHS Trust Paediatric Diabetes Team based in Ealing and Northwick Park Hospital. Clinical supervision and training opportunities and CPPD will be provided from Diabetes Team and the Trust.

We are a well-established student trainer providing placements and the post will involve supervision of students in the clinical area.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to manage a caseload of children and young people with diabetes from diagnosis to transition to adult services. Training and supervision will be provided within the role.

The post holder will be required to work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team and with school and other agencies to support child and family to safely manage diabetes in community settings.

Education/qualifications
Essential

• Registered nurse children
• degree in nursing
• evidence of ongoing professional development
• teaching course
• BLS certified

Desirable

• Post registration qualification in children and young peoples diabetes
• Course and/or experience in Quality Improvement Project
• Appraisal Training
• PILs training

Knowledge and experience
Essential

• Post registration experience within a paediatric unit managing diabetes
• Specialist knowledge of clinical procedures related to children's diabetes
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to build effective relationships
• experience teaching and supervising junior staff and students
• experienced in caseload management, risk management and prioritisation of patient caseload

Desirable

• nurse led clinics
• previous experience teaching children, young people, families and staff
