We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our Oncology Pharmacy team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing role that supports the coordination and delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) services across Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
Based across both hospital sites, you will play a key role in ensuring cancer treatments are safely coordinated, prepared and delivered in a timely manner.
This is a rotational post where you will work across key areas of the Oncology Pharmacy service across the 2 sites. The Oncology pharmacy is based at the Kent Oncology Centre on the Maidstone site and the Technical Services incl of the Aseptic Unit are based on the Tunbridge Wells site.You will lead on the coordination, organisation and processing of treatments, working closely with pharmacy, nursing, medical and administrative teams.
You will help ensure that all treatments are appropriately scheduled and aligned with pharmacy capacity, supporting safe and efficient patient care.
Main duties of the jobAs part of this role, you will rotate across:
- IV Screening Coordination Office Coordinating SACT treatments, managing workflows, liaising with schedulers and ensuring all pre-treatment requirements are met.
- Technical Services Coordination Office Liaise with Cancer Scheduling teams, pharmacy staff , aseptic unit and clinical teams to manage treatment bookings and changes
- Clinical / Ward-Based Services Working alongside pharmacists to support medicines reconciliation, discharge planning and patient counselling within oncology and haematology services.
You will be someone who understands the importance of the Pharmacy Technician role within Pharmacy, who is passionate about; Pharmacy, Healthcare, providing patient centre care and upholding the GPhC professional standards.
Our core working hours are 08:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the voluntary bank holiday services.
You will be a professionally qualified Pharmacy Technician holding either the BTEC or NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical Services; and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and be a qualified Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT).

Person SpecificationQualifications- Essential
- BTEc in Pharmaceutical Science and/or NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Accredited technician checker (ACT) or working towards.
- Desirable
- The British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) Digital SACT Verification Passport core module.
- Practice/Education Supervisor or equivalent
- Advance Patient Counselling.
- Accredited Medicines Management Technician (MMT) or working towards.
Experience/Knowledge- Essential
- Post qualification hospital pharmacy experience.
- Understanding of pharmacology and therapeutics.
- Understanding of Oncology pharmacy and practices.

- Experience in use of Wellsky (JAC), Sunrise, Aria and KOMS Computer Systems.
