Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a part-time (0.4 wte) Clinical Psychologist Band 8a (opening to a development role so band 7 applicants are also welcome to apply) to join the Paediatric Psychosocial Service (PPS), part of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust (MFT) CAMHS which sits within the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

We provide inpatient and outpatient support to patients with a wide range of physical health conditions on a local, regional, national and international basis. Working for the Paediatric Psychosocial Service at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, you'll work with children and young people aged up to 18 years and their families who present with a wide range of complex emotional and behavioural difficulties associated with physical health conditions.

We are looking for dedicated mental healthcare professionals who are keen to promote and improve the mental health and well-being of children and young people with physical health conditions and those who care for them. You'll be supported to manage a defined caseload and have the responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and young people. Roles also include consultation and liaison with medical teams. We have other part-time roles that this post could be combined with.

Main duties of the job
Specifically, in this role you will contribute to the development, systematic provision and evaluation of a high-quality specialist clinical psychology service to patients within the specialist Paediatric Burn Service at RMCH.

Your responsibilities:

• Providing evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Helping to develop the clinical psychology service
• Contributing to MDT care planning and review
• Participating in the residential burns camp programmes and other rehab activities
• Contributing to audit and research

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

• Postgraduate diploma, masters, doctoral degree or equivalent accepted by the British Psychological Society as qualifying the person to work as a clinical psychologist.

Desirable

• Pre-qualification training or experience with children and adolescents / adults with health conditions.
• Post-Qualification CPD relating to paediatrics or Health Psychology
• Post-qualification training in a specific therapeutic modality relevant to a paediatric setting.

Experience and knowledge
Essential

• Experience of working as a specialist clinical psychologist for at least 18 months.
• Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with children, families and adult patients across the age range with a full range of presenting problems and across settings including community, outpatient and clinic settings. Experience of multi-disciplinary teamwork.
• Experience of assessing and managing risk in a therapeutic setting
• Experience of multi-disciplinary teamwork
• Experience of teaching, training and professional and clinical supervision
• Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals
• Knowledge of legislation and national guidance in relation to the needs of child and adult patients

Desirable

• Working knowledge of professional systems involved in work with child/ adult patients, both in specialist hospital and community settings
• Experience of working with patients within physical health specialties
• Experience of working autonomously as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience in working in developing services
