Job summary
An exciting 12-month Band 7 Occupational Therapist secondment opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our well-established multi-disciplinary team in the North West Ventilation Service. This role would suit someone who is looking to gain experience as a Band 7 Occupational Therapist and expand their knowledge in a tertiary specialist service.

The North West Ventilation Service is a tertiary referral center in the North West region, caring for patients requiring domiciliary non-invasive/invasive ventilation and cough augmentation adjuncts. Our clients include patients with chronic respiratory disease, neuromuscular diseases and obesity related breathing disorders. We provide specialist weaning support to complex patients as part of our regional ventilation weaning programme. Services are delivered from a dedicated 12 bedded inpatient unit with an adjoining outpatient area and additionally within patient's own homes.

The successful post holder will manage a clinical caseload of clients, including those with highly complex needs, whilst working alongside the Band 3 Occupational Therapy assistant, providing supervision, appraisal, and learning opportunities.

As part of their role the post holder will provide complex professional clinical advice and support to patients, family members, carer's, and external professionals involved in the patients care.

Main duties of the job
Patient facing care, treatments and facilitation of complex discharges.

MDT working. Discharge Plan and Best Interest Meetings. Access Visits, housing, equipment and adaptation assessment and provision. Provide support to patients, relatives and carer's to support best patient outcomes.

Engage and develop skills and knowledge in the specialist clinical setting including experience at a Band 7 role.

Supervise, appraise and provide learning support to Band 3 Occupational Therapy assistant. This will include manage annual leave and sickness.
