Job summary
We are inviting applications from experienced physiotherapists with a keen interest in acute respiratory care to come join our Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Physiotherapy Team.

The Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre is recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of clinical excellence. The centre benefits from a dedicated Cystic Fibrosis outpatient facility as well as a dedicated 20 bedded ward with attached gym and exercise testing facility. The Centre currently cares for over 500 adults in the North West and is the largest adult centre outside of London. It has a national and international reputation for its clinical research.

This is an excellent opportunity for a physiotherapist to further develop and demonstrate their leadership, management, research and service development skills while supporting the delivery of high-quality specialist care within the acute ward environment.

Furthermore, this role offers development and learning in other areas of the CF Physiotherapy Service to support the service delivery. The post holder will work closely with and be support by an established physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team

Main duties of the job

Key Duties:

• To perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and treatments for adult's with Cystic Fibrosis, Bronchiectasis and PCD, delivering individualised treatment plans in an acute ward environment
• Recognise and respond to acute clinical deterioration, including managing patients requiring high levels of oxygen/respiratory support
• Assess physical function and exercise capacity, and provide exercise testing, prescription and support during admission to optimise recovery and long-term physical activity.
• Participation in MDT working
• Participate in audit, service evaluation and quality improvement
• Deliver timely discharge planning

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be able to continue to manage a clinical caseload and be able to delegate or delay non-urgent duties.
