Ward Manager, Ward A7, Specialist Medicine (Diabetes/Endocrinology), 37.5 hours

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and manage a dedicated and committed team at Wythenshawe Hospital within a inpatient 28 bedded ward. You will be working in a supportive directorate which focuses on excellent care for patients with diabetes and other medical conditions. The successful candidate will have previous substantive experience at Band 6 or band 7 level and possess experience within change management. Excellent communication skills are essential and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate and sustain new and innovative ways of working which facilitate developments in nursing practice.You will be required to provide continuity in dealing with and overseeing operational Nursing issues on a daily basis. Therefore, the ability to lead, manage and direct a team efficiently and effectively is essential. You will be supported in the role by the Matron and a team of senior nursing staff on the ward. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and committed to improving service delivery with a flexible approach to the needs of the service. This post provides an excellent career opportunity for someone who is clinically credible but wishes to further develop management and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

• Create and maintain effective communication with both staff, patients , visiting professionals and relatives
• Undertake comprehensive health care needs assessment of patients, reassessing as appropriate.
• Take a lead role in, undertake and promote practice sensitive to the needs of patients and relatives from multi-cultural backgrounds
• Assess, plan, prioritise, implement and evaluate nursing interventions to meet patients needs.
• Facilitate patients, relatives and carers to take an active role in care given. Manage the nursing teams activity, which satisfy agreed standards at Local or Trust or National levels.

What is a DBS Check?

Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
