Job summaryApplications are invited for a Specialty Doctor in Dermatology to join our friendly and enthusiastic team of 13 Consultant colleagues serving a population of ~949,000 across South Essex and based at the purpose-built Arthur Rook Centre for Dermatology. This is a vacant post based at Basildon Hospital as part of the South Essex Dermatology Service which covers Brentwood, Basildon, Thurrock and Southend on Sea.
We will support flexible working hours and will also support any special interest you may wish to develop within the NHS Framework. We are also committed to support any quality improvement projects you may wish to do as part of service improvement within Dermatology.
With the introduction of the Mid Essex Hospitals NHS Trust, it is likely that the post holder will be required to provide some services across multiple hospital sites.
Main duties of the jobThe department has aspirations to develop into a regional Dermatology specialist centre. Sub-specialist services currently provided include Paediatric Dermatology, Allergy, Dermatological surgery and Dermatopathology, and the department is in the process of developing MOHs Micrographic Surgery.
As a developing regional service Dermatology occupies a prominent position within the management structure of the Trust and has enjoyed significant investment in staffing and facilities over the past 10 years. With further expansion of the catchment area there is scope to further develop the general and sub specialist aspects of the service.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Training & experience in Dermatology
- Full GMC Registration
- MRCP or equivalent
Desirable- Experience in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment
Clinical PracticeEssential- Sufficient clinical experience in dermatology to work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively
DesirableManagementEssential- Commitment to effective departmental management
ExperienceEssential- Experiance in both adults and paediatrics
- 4 years ST experience 2 years within the Specialty
