The Paediatric Psychology team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust are looking to recruit a permanent Clinical Psychologist to join our growing team, which sits within a wider Clinical Health Psychology Department.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Paediatric Psychology team, working into a split post between the 0-18 Autism Assessment Pathway and the wider paediatric psychology services (currently commissioned into Paediatric Diabetes and Burns). The post sits within an innovative and growing Psychological Services Department within a large acute hospital trust, which comprises a strong team of clinical and practitioner psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors working into a range of specialties. The successful applicant will work across the Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals sites at Pinderfields General Hospital, Dewsbury District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary.
We are a friendly and supportive team, who actively encourage and support supervision, CPD and service-related audit and research. As a department, we take trainees from local training courses in Clinical Psychology and have good academic links to the these courses. Professional supervision and support will be provided by experienced Clinical Psychologists within the Paediatric Psychology team.
We welcome applications from enthusiastic, highly motivated and resourceful individuals with strong skills in assessment and delivering psychological input.
Main duties of the job
As part of the 0-18 Autism Assessment service you will join a large MDT comprising psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and community paediatricians.
The post-holder will complete specialist triage and assessment for children and families referred through the Autism Assessment Pathway. This will involve individual and family assessments as part of the wider MDT assessment process, working both independently and jointly with the MDT (e.g. school visits, observation, and involvement with childrens services and other agencies).
The post-holder will attend MDT meetings, as well as indirect work with staff including supervision, training and teaching.
Within the wider Paediatric Psychology service you will work alongside broad MDTs comprising paediatricians, surgeons, specialist nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
The postholder will undertake the appropriate triage, assessment, and intervention with children and young people and their families referred into the service, alongside joint working, consultation and liaison within teams. There are frequent opportunities for involvement in service development and evaluation, audit and teaching/training across both services.
The successful applicant will work across the Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals sites at Pinderfields General Hospital, Dewsbury District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary.
Full duties and responsibilities are detailed in the Job Description.
