Job summaryAn opportunity has arisen to recruit a
0.8wte Band 8b Principal Applied Psychologist within our new and developing Adult ADHD and Autism service. We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Principal Applied Psychologist, ideally with experience of working in a community setting. As a registered professional, you will be committed to providing a high-quality service and will support in the development of our ADHD and Autism clinic. The service will cover the East and West of South Staffordshire offering remote and face to face appointments. You will have experience with Autism assessments and ideally ADHD, although appropriate training will be provided. You will be completing Autism and ADHD assessments for diagnosis.
Main duties of the jobTake on the role of Principal Applied Psychologist within the ADHD and Autism assessment team in South Staffordshire, delivering expert, person-centred clinical assessments to individuals requiring assessments for ADHD and/or Autism. Collaborate effectively as a core member of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the highest standards in patient care delivery. To be part of the collective leadership within the service, playing an integral role in innovation, shaping service development, and fostering continuous improvement.

Person SpecificationTrainingEssential- Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (or its equivalent), as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology. and/or Post-doctoral training in one or more additional areas of specialised psychological practice.
- Post-qualification training in autism and ADHD assessment.
- Post qualification training for role of clinical supervisor to Doctorate trainees in applied psychology.
- Currently registered with HPC.
Desirable- Registration with BPS
- Additional post graduate level training in one or more therapeutic treatment approaches e.g. cognitive therapy, systemic/family therapy, EMDR
ExperienceEssential- Substantial experience of working as a qualified psychologist with people with severe and enduring mental health problems; including assessment and clinical interventions for a wide range of presenting problems. To include experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental health problems.
- Experiencing of assessing and diagnosing people with autistic spectrum conditions.
- Experience of working as a qualified psychological practitioner with people with a diagnosis of an autistic spectrum condition.
- Substantial experience of working within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency settings (including with the 3rd Sector).
Desirable- Experience of working in the NHS.
- Experience of working with patients diagnosed with ADHD.
Skills & KnowledgeEssential- Up to date knowledge of best practice in Autism diagnosis
- Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management and their application within community settings.
- High level skills in the assessment and management of risk.
