An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Integrated Out of Hours Community Nursing Team as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse. This is a permanent role, with vacancies across Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford and Norton Canes. Successful candidates will be required to work across two of these bases.

The service operates between 16:00 and 08:15, seven days a week, covering evening and night shifts. This may particularly appeal to nurses seeking a flexible alternative to traditional working patterns.

We cover approximately 1,047 square miles, therefore a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential. You must be willing and able to travel extensively across the locality to meet service and patient needs.

We are looking for experienced nurses with strong clinical and leadership skills who are ready to develop within a senior role.

You will be supported to become a confident and authentic leader, developing skills in leadership, advanced clinical practice, resilience, wider healthcare systems and supporting others, while fostering a culture of safe, compassionate and high-quality care.

Main duties of the job
The role will focus on coordinating and leading shifts, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of care across the Out of Hours service. You will triage, assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients with complex needs within the community setting.

Working closely with colleagues across the wider leadership team, you will support the effective delivery and development of the service while maintaining awareness of the wider local and national healthcare agenda.

We are looking for a proactive, flexible and dynamic nurse with excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills. You will be confident in clinical decision-making, managing competing priorities and positively challenging practice where appropriate to promote safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications
Essential

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development
• Evidence of relevant post-registration clinical development.
• Experience of working within a community healthcare setting
• Experience of palliative and end of life care, wound management, catheter care and long-term condition management
• Experience of supporting, supervising or coordinating colleagues and/or allocating workloads
• Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively across the service area of approximately 1,047 square miles and work across two bases
• Ability to work evenings and nights across seven days, including weekends and bank holidays

Desirable

• Previous experience at Band 6 level, or evidence of leadership responsibilities at Band 5
• Recognised leadership or management qualification/training
• Experience of coordinating an Out of Hours or community nursing service
• Experience of clinical supervision, staff development and supporting performance
• Evidence of involvement in service development or implementing change
