Job summaryWe are looking for a Locum Paramedic to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at SBAAS Cyprus, in Dhekelia, Cyprus.
Work pattern: Monday - Sunday (60 hours)
The successful applicant will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel and their families.
Pay Rate:PAYE - £22.68 - £31.30 per hour (Depending on shifts)
Umbrella - £26.08 - £36.00 per hour (Depending on shifts)

Main duties of the job- To undertake Pre-Hospital Emergency Care by working alongside military medics to provide clinical level 5 emergency response care to both military and civilian patients.
- To work on a 12 or 24-hour shift dependant on local requirement. The duty period is classed as a working/sleeping duty dependant on if a 12 or 24hr shift, with all on-call staff sleeping and remaining within the Medical Centre.
- To respond to all Front-Line Ambulance incidents as required and in agreed timeframes of emergency response providing high standard Pre-Hospital Emergency care to casualties.
- To assess clinical situations, determine the nature and severity of the problem and call upon the required knowledge and experience to deal with the problem (within scope of practice).
- Be accountable for the assessment, treatment, diagnosis, supply and administering of medicines, managing, referring to appropriate healthcare professionals within the clinicians scope of practice.
- To conduct thorough and comprehensive assessments and treat patients who present to the Medical Centre when directed as part of their duties and within their scope of practice.
- To initiate resolution of problems and be able to exercise personal initiative.
- To recognise limits of practice and when to seek advice or refer to another professional.

- To undertake pre-use Emergency Equipment checks of all Front-Line Ambulance equipment at beginning of each shift.
- To assess and treat patients who present to the Medical Centre.
- To undertake and legibly record a thorough, sensitive and detailed assessment, using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- To conduct thorough and detailed physical examinations of patients using observations, palpation, auscultation, and other assessment skills to inform clinical reasoning and to guide the formulation of a diagnosis across all age ranges, including calling for specialist help where available.
- To use observation to gather information about the functional abilities of patients.
- To understand the need to consider the assessment of both the health and social care needs of patients and carers.
- To provide subject matter expert (SME) advice to clinicians of all levels as appropriate and where necessary.
- To undertake regular inhouse trade training, either as a participant or in an instructional capacity.
- To have or gain an understanding of the Defence Medical Information Capability Program (DMICP) and use it to complete patient records.
- To ensure accurate and timely sharing of information in compliance with local health care governance policy.
- To ensure consent is obtained and documented prior to any assessment and/or intervention in line with the MCA (2005).
- To respond, where required, to emergency 112 call using Service vehicles under emergency response driving conditions, in line with local policy and scope of practice.
- To be responsible for completing local induction procedures and mandated training requirements.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Be a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered.
- Paramedic with experience in the provision of Pre-Hospital Emergency Care obtained within the last two years.
- Hold a valid and in date DBS (Enhanced at time of application.
- Must have successfully completed a Newly Qualified Paramedic (NQP) programme prior to commencement of contract.
- Must hold a current driving license with required categories, no endorsements.
- Must be able to communicate in English to the standard equivalent to level 7 of the International English Language Testing System, with no element below 6.5.
- Must have undertaken the additional health clearance checks for clinicians required to perform Exposure Prone Procedures (in accordance with the Department of Health policy entitled Health clearance for tuberculosis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV: New Healthcare Workers).
- Must be in date and able to provide certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 3 training.
