Endoscopy Decontamination Technician
Band 3 £25,760 - £27,476 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week plus On-call commitment

The Department is operational from 7am - 8pm over a 6 day shift system. Your typical hours will be one week of earlies and one week of lates and the successful applicant will need to be able to work flexible shifts covering these hours. In line with Trust policy the department aims to become a 7 day service, it is possible that operational hours will be reviewed to reflect this.The Department runs an on-call service and the technician would be required to participate fully in the out of hours on-call rota (contracted to one week in every four).The role involves efficiently providing the correct handling, cleaning, decontamination maintenance and secure storage of flexible endoscopes and related equipment.No previous experience is required for this role as on ongoing training programme is in operation.Decontamination Technicians are given the opportunity to gain experience in Sterile Services once fully trained.

'We care We communicate We collaborate We contribute' Based in the Endoscopy Department the post holder will be part of a team of technicians responsible for the reprocessing of Endoscopes and associated medical devices to include the automated Endoscopy reprocessors and accessories.

The post holder will adhere to all standards and policies relevant to the working area.

There may be a requirement to work within the Sterile Services Department once trained.

Works autonomously by participating in the on call rota providing 24/7 emergency cover on a scheduled basis.Responsible for supervision of external partners (i.e. Gutcare) who work in the department outside of normal practice

• General standard of education - GCSE (A - C) or equivalent in 3 subjects
• Basic IT skills
• Understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, some of which are non-routine, which require a base level of theoretical knowledge. This is normally acquired through formal training or equivalent experience
