Job overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team with the Mental Health and Wellness Team in Redbridge based at Mellmead House. The MHWT is a community mental health service providing assessment, intervention and recovery focused support for adults. As a key member of the team, you will deliver high quality, person centred Occupational Therapy interventions, promoting independence, social inclusion and meaningful engagement in daily life. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and OT team pathway, contributing to holistic care planning, risk formulations and evidence based interventions. The role offers oportunities to develop specialist skills, support service development, co-production, and contribute towards a recovery orientated service model. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who is passionate about community mental health and committed to improving outcomes for individuals within a supportive and forward thinking team.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide high quality Occupational Therapy.
  • Undertake comprehensive standardised assessments to co-produce meaningful goals and intervention.
  • To develop and co-facilitate group therapy programmes.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Trust policies.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Support system flow and service user transitional pathways.
  • Act as a Practice Placement Educator for OT students and apprentices.
  • Engage in activities related to clinical effectiveness and service improvement eg audit, QI, Research and Development.
  • Responsible for clinical supervision and co-ordination of junior staff and students/apprentices.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for managing their own workload, prioritising tasks effectively, and ensuring deadlines are met. They will be expected to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to high standards. The role may involve working across multiple sites and requires excellent communication and organisational skills. The job description is attached for details.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,870 and a maximum payment of £6,137) pro rata for part time staff.

Although we are a registered sponsor organisation, we are unable to offer sponsorship for all job roles. Please check your eligibility under the UKVI points-based system. When calculating the basic salary for sponsorship, HCAS (High-Cost Area Supplement) is not included to ensure fairness and consistency within our Trust.
