Description

Job summary
NHS England is recruiting a Clinical Endoscopist Lead for the South East Endoscopy Training Academy on a secondment for a fixed term basis, until 31 March 2027 in the first instance. This role is for 1 or 2 days a week, with a potential for job share. (Please note in this text Clinical Endoscopist refers to nurses and/or allied health professionals who have trained to carry out Endoscopy procedures)

The post holder will sit within the NHSE South East Cancer and Diagnostics Programme and will be instrumental in leading the ongoing development of the South East Endoscopy Training Academy.

The postholder will provide expert professional advice to develop and lead the education and training strategy for the South East Endoscopy Training Academy. This will support regional workforce expansion and ensure that training needs are identified and met across the region. The individual will act as a key contact for clinical endoscopist trainees and their mentors.

Main duties of the job
  • To act as a local expert resource supporting the development of a regional training programme for Clinical Endoscopists
  • To act as the main point of contact for local partners.
  • To co-ordinate training programmes within the South East, including organising and managing of large multi-professional working group meetings.
  • To develop regional networks to provide peer support for Clinical Endoscopists and Endoscopy colleagues
  • To work closely with multiple stakeholders in identifying key steps to enable embedding training programmes beyond the pilot phase
  • To lead regionally on the monitoring and audit of training posts for quality and consistency

About us
NHS England has a wide range of statutory functions, responsibilities and regulatory powers. These are focused on supporting the wider NHS to deliver high quality care, as well as doing those things that are best done once for the whole NHS.

Our staff bring expertise across clinical, operational, commissioning, technology, data science, cyber security, software engineering, education, and commercial specialisms -- enabling us to design and deliver high-quality NHS services.

In March 2025, the Government announced that NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care will increasingly merge functions, ultimately leading to NHS England being fully integrated into the department.

If you currently work within the NHS and if successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the process.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

We cannot offer visa sponsorship for any vacancies.

Job responsibilities
Please refer to Job Description for full detail of the role.

You should have a passion for education, a sound understanding of Endoscopy service provision, training and education, with experience of working as part of a multi-professional team and a track record of delivering projects to deadlines.
