Job summaryWe are seeking an experienced and credible Mental Health professional to join the Midlands Clinical Quality and Safety Governance Delivery Team as a Clinical Lead for Mental Health Homicide Independent Investigations.
This specialist role provides expert clinical advice, professional oversight and independent clinical perspective to support the delivery of statutory Mental Health Homicide Investigations across the Midlands. Working alongside senior clinical and quality leaders, you will contribute to robust investigation processes, support objective review of complex cases, and help translate learning into meaningful improvements in patient safety and quality of care.
The successful candidate will bring significant experience of working within Mental Health services, a strong understanding of patient safety, governance and investigation methodologies, and the ability to provide expert clinical challenge and insight. You will play a key role in supporting regional learning from homicide investigations, public inquiries and wider Mental Health reviews, helping to strengthen quality improvement and reduce future harm across the system.
This is an excellent opportunity to influence patient safety at a regional level and contribute to the ongoing improvement of Mental Health services across the NHS.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Qualified and registered medical doctor or clinician i.e. MBBS, MD or equivalent.
- Full professional registration with GMC and a licence to practice.
- Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
- Relevant professional qualification in the area of Mental Health Services e.g. Medic, Doctor
- Extensive evidence of working across varied organistional settings.
- Member of relevant professional body.
Knowledge and experienceEssential- Extensive knowledge of Mental Health services across health and care.
- Working within a Mental Health setting or recent clinical experience with proven skills at both strategic and operational level.
Desirable- Have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health and individual provider and commissioning organisations.
