Description

NHS Fife Older Adult Community Mental Health Services
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced 1st level registered mental health nurse to join our Older Adult Community Mental Health Team within NHS Fife, West Fife locality. You will be based at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline. We welcome interest from enthusiastic and compassionate nurses who thrive in collaborative multidisciplinary settings and bring strong communication skills alongside a proactive approach to delivering high-quality care.

The post-holder will provide responsive mental health nursing assessment, intervention and care coordination across the Older Adult Community Mental Health Service, encompassing general community mental health nursing care as well as the team's specialist pathways, including dementia post-diagnostic support, care home liaison and young onset memory services, according to service need.

You will be required to confidently carry out initial mental health assessments, provide low intensity psychological therapies, formulate person-centred care plans and evaluate care and treatment provision for a complex range of older people referred to our service.

You will have the ability to work independently but also as a key member of our multidisciplinary team. You will manage your own caseload and provide teaching, supervision and assessment for student nurses. As a charge nurse, you will assist with the supervision and development of any junior staff whilst supporting the band 7 with the overall running of the team. You will be required to deputise for the band 7 team leader during periods of leave. The successful candidate will have the ability to travel across NHS Fife.

Working pattern – The service operates within office hours Monday – Friday 9-5pm.

Informal Enquiries: Or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Tracy McEwan, Nurse Team Leader, OACMHT West tracy.mcewan@nhs.scot, 01383 623623, Ext 27085 or Monica Grossett, Nurse Team Leader OACMHT East monica.grossett@nhs.scot or 01383 623623 Ext 51347

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application—but your answers must be your own.
  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you—not an AI tool.
