Job summary
Why might this job interest you? We have an exciting opportunity for a Cardiac Physiologist in Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust to join the Cardiac Outpatients Department at Princess Alexandra Hospital. You will be responsible for performing a range of cardiac diagnostic investigations, supporting the delivery of both routine and more complex cardiac assessments, and ensuring high standards of patient care are maintained at all times. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will manage a daily workload of diagnostic tests within the Cardiac Assessment Unit, communicate effectively with colleagues and patients, and contribute to the efficient delivery of cardiology services across the Trust. You will also support service provision at any location where the Trust delivers care, helping to ensure a responsive and patient-focused service.

Main duties of the job
As a Cardiac Physiologist, you will be responsible for independently recording and interpreting 12-lead ECGs, ensuring that clinically significant findings are escalated in accordance with departmental protocols. You will manage the review of ambulatory cardiac rhythm recordings using specialist analysis systems, producing factual reports to support clinical decision-making. You will also be responsible for evaluating data obtained from event and blood pressure monitoring devices and referring abnormal results where appropriate. Supporting exercise tolerance testing forms a key part of the role, with opportunities to progress from assisting to leading procedures following competency-based training. In addition, you will support cardiac catheterisation services by undertaking haemodynamic monitoring activities within the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory under supervision and developing expertise in invasive cardiac investigations.
