Our Day Surgery Unit provides care to adult and paediatric patients from a wide range of specialities including ENT, Ophthalmology, Max Fax, Dental, Orthopaedic, Gynaecology as well as general surgery. This is a busy 12 bedded unit that carries out pre and post-operative care. Ambulatory Care is provided within the day surgery unit for long term condition care. Treatments includes bladder instillations, blood and iron transfusions, biologic infusions, pre subcutaneous biologic injection workup and patient training on self-administration.

As a staff nurse DSU will be responsible for all aspects of care for patients undergoing elective surgery. Part of your responsibility will be to ensure the environment is safe and effective for delivery of care to adults and children. You will provide excellent care from admission to discharge. You will participate in ward audit, clinical quality indicators and safety cross data collection. Flexibility to work in other areas of the organisation, either hospital or community based, is also essential.

You will be a Registered General Nurse keen to obtain surgical care knowledge and experience. Previous surgical experience would be an advantage, though not necessary. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential.
