Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Programme OpportunityNorfolk and Waveney Acute Hospital Collaborative (NWAHC)

We have embarked on a significant programme to implement a single Electronic Patient Record (EPR) across the Norfolk and Waveney Acute Hospital Collaborative (NWAHC), as part of the wider NHS digital transformation agenda.

The collaborative brings together three acute hospital trusts:

• James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (JPUH)
• Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH)
• The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust (QEH)

This programme represents a major strategic investment in improving patient care, safety, and operational efficiency across our system.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working solely on data quality issues that will impact on the delivery of the EPR implementation. They will be responsible for ensuring data input by Trust Staff to any computer system, relating to Patient Information required for data migration is accurate, valid, consistent, complete, fit for purpose and able to be migrated over to MEDITECH with no failure during the data migration process.

Expert knowledge will be required in the correct processes and validation methodology of patient demographics:

• Using the local hospital PAS system
• Cross hospital matching systems and data quality outputs.
• Validation with the national spine
• Use of default information
• Outputs from the Demographic Batch Service
• Update deceased patient details and close off any open referrals or activity.

The post holder must have expert knowledge of all aspects of a patient's pathway . This includes Referral to Treatment, Non-Referral to Treatment, Diagnostic and Cancer Pathways and Periods:

• Reading & understanding patient case-notes which requires knowledge of medical terminology.
• Receipt & entry of the referral.
• Booking & cancelling Out-patient appointments
• Post Session Recording of Out-patient attendances.
• Adding patients to Day case/Inpatient waiting lists
• TCI (To come in) offers, deferred treatment.
• Closing off referrals
• Linking activity to the correct referral

Job responsibilities

• Opportunity to work on an innovative project which improves patient experience and outcomes.
• Opportunity to provide live feedback on the build of a brand new system
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team of experienced, Clinicians, Technicians, Digital Nurses, and Data Scientists.
• The post holder will analyse, interpret and present complex data outputs required to support validation across all pathway and period types and work with the Data Quality Managers to develop data validation reports regarding activity within the Trust according to National Guidance Rules. The efficient use of various software programmes will be required to produce reports, statistical data, create and maintain spreadsheets to a high standard.

This is an exciting opportunity as the post holder will be involved in the testing of migrated data and will receive comprehensive training on Meditech to enable support to be given to all new users of the programme, they will become a Meditech super user and support coaching and training.

• The post holder will support the EPR Programme by focusing on data cleansing specific data items that are required to be migrated into MEDITECH Expanse.
• The role is based locally at the relevant trust with day-to-day management being carried out by the trust Data Commissioning & Quality Compliance Support Officer and the Data Quality Managers, direction and priority will be driven by the EPR Programme.

Qualifications
Essential

• Educated to NVQ level 4 or equivalent level qualification and/or experience

Desirable

• Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience
Essential

• Understanding of NHS Data Sources, data definitions, data flows and RTT definitions
• Expert knowledge of patient pathways of care through the clinical setting

Skills
Essential

• Competent use of Patient Administration System and other HealthCare IT systems.
• Ability to analyse information and highlight potential problem areas.
