Job summaryINTERNAL ONLY TO NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST (NCIC) EMPLOYEESThe post holder will lead the development of holistic, high quality, patient focused care for patients with Hepatic pancreatic Biliary/ Upper Gastrointestinal cancers in North Cumbria ensuring national guidance is implemented locally by contributing to the management and development of the service. They will co-ordinate the diagnosis, multidisciplinary treatment and follow-up of these patients and will work across directorate and primary / secondary care boundaries to ensure a seamless service from diagnosis onwards. They will provide specialist information and support for patients and carers and become an expert resource for the primary care team. The post holder will initiate and participate in audit & research studies in order to monitor and improve outcomes for this patient group.

Main duties of the jobClinicalTo be fully responsible for a cohort of patients, providing assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the individual HPB/ oesophago-gastric cancer patients' needs in collaboration with the Multi-disciplinary team, providing guidance, advice, support and counselling throughout the patient pathway.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Registered Nurse with current registration
- Bachelors Degree level study
- Experience in managing patients with Cancer
- Masters in Healthcare related subject or equivalent
Desirable- Advanced communication skills
- Experience in managing patients with HPB/Upper GI cancer
Knowledge and ExperienceEssential- Experience of running independent nurse led clinics
- Extensive experience of working in GI services
- Experience of implementing policy, SOPs and operational processes
- In depth knowledge of quality assurance and delivering continued service improvement
- Experience of undertaking detailed, intensive work in a busy environment.
- Experience of dealing with critical incidents and complaints and managing patient expectations.
- Experience of clinical audit and research practice.
- Advanced awareness of NHS constitutional standards and the impact this has on service delivery for cancer and routine patient pathways
- Demonstrable experience of actively contributing to an MDT, advocating for patients and carers & communicating effectively with consultants, registrars and other members of the MDT.
