Job summaryThe post holder will be required to deliver a comprehensive Occupational Therapy Service for service users on one designated ward and to contribute as required to the Central Therapy Group Programme, to meet the identified occupational and functional needs of the service users.
As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will provide a variety of interventions, promoting a recovery approach and social inclusion. This will include assessment and treatment on the unit, in community settings and home visits as appropriate to support the acute clinical pathway.
The post-holder will ensure that her/his practice meets the requirements of this clinical group and is in keeping with current evidence-based practices. The post holder will work with OT's, Art and Music Therapists, and sports technician, activity workers, and peer support workers to provide a comprehensive treatment programme for service users.
The post holder will have supervisory responsibility for junior staff and student practitioners working in the unit. Although staff are allocated initially to work in one specific ward, all appointments are made to the In-Patient Services

Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesTo be responsible for providing expert care in OT, in accordance with the HCPC codes of professional conduct
To provide expert, autonomous and highly specialist OT clinical practice within a multi-disciplinary Team to include:
- Initial assessment and formulation using a range of mental health or other specialist tools
- When required to do so making appropriate judgements about own caseload
- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care in negotiation with service users, carers and other services, considering the needs of a diverse community
- Undertaking OT specific assessment and interventions
- Apply a range of therapeutic modalities, using evidence-based interventions in accordance with the requirements of care pathways
- Contributing to multidisciplinary team decisions at the point of discharge and or transfer of the service user
- To participate in and provide a specialist OT perspective to multi-disciplinary team meetings/case discussions

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy or Sports science
- HCPC registration
Desirable- Completed specialist training such as KUF, care certificate or similar
Clinical SkillsEssential- Experience of working in mental health
- Experience of using IT and digital tool
- Demonstrating ability to work flexibly
- Experience of undertaking specialist clinical assessment in the acute mental health field
- Experience of running groups and individual session
Desirable- Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and support junior staff in effective time management
CommunicationEssential- Demonstrates ability to communicate in written form
- Experience of MDT working
