We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic clinician to join the Camden and Islington Personality Disorder Service Community Team.

Working as a member of the Community Care Group service line based within the Personality Disorder Service Community Team, the post holder will be responsible for providing individual assessment, identified clinical interventions and direct care to service users with severe personality disorder and associated difficulties.

As a registered Health Care Professional, the post holder will be responsible for working in way that promotes levels of excellence in the team and operates to the requirements of the service operational policy and strategy, and that safe, evidence-based, effective, culturally competent care is delivered in a timely manner to service users.

The focus of the role will be that of individual assessment, intervention, and evaluation of treatment, delivered within the framework of NICE guidelines, evidence based best practice and to maximise service user's strengths through Case Management and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.

They will be responsible for a defined caseload and will formulate appropriate specific, highly specialist care and treatment plans; providing highly skilled and specialist interventions and care to service users with complex mental health problems. Close working relationships with service user's whole support systems form a vital part of this role.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

Job responsibilities

• To regularly attend and fully participate in individual and group supervision.
• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care in negotiation with service users, carers and other services, considering the needs of a diverse community
• To participate in and contribute to clinical audit and service evaluation with colleagues within the service, to help improve service provision, proposing changes to working practices and procedures as required.
• To participate in and provide a specialist nursing/OT/HPC perspective to multi-disciplinary team meetings/case discussions/peer supervision
• To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues of relevance to the service and client group.
• To undertake such other duties and responsibilities, appropriate to the grade of the post, as agreed with the therapies team manager.
• Maintaining contemporaneous records to the standard required by the trust and the relevant professional body (where appropriate to the post holder)
• Assessing and managing risk on a continuous basis, in line with trust policy
• Encouraging service users to accept an optimum level of responsibility for their programme of care and with their consent, where appropriate, seek the co-operation of friends, relatives, carers.
• Support other members of staff in their assessment and management of service user care needs through reviewing initial data collection; monitoring of their progress; feedback; discussion and reports at care reviews with the team.
• To identify carers and to offer carers assessments and review carers care plans alongside the service carers lead.

Qualifications
Essential

• Registered health care professional (e.g. NMC, HCPC, SWE)

Experience
Essential

• A good knowledge and experience in relation to factors that relate to 'personality disorders'/ mental illness together with evidence based best practice.

Desirable

• Experience delivering group and/or individual therapies such as SCM or DBT

Personal Qualities
Essential

• Ability to use self-awareness and reflection as a means of learning about the work and areas for development
• Ability to work effectively in crisis situations in order to maintain the safety of both staff and service-user.
