Job summaryThe Pharmacy Technician will play an important role in complementing the Pharmacy Team and other members of the practice. Pharmacy Technicians work under supervision to ensure effective and efficient use of medicines. The responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician cover clinical, and technical and administrative categories.
The successful postholder will be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisations throughout the practice team and promote good practice in line with therapeutic developments which will involve national requirements, NICE implementation, and utilisation of medicines optimisation initiatives.
Main duties of the job- Undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use
- Carry out medicines optimisation tasks
- Support medication reviews and medicines reconciliation
- Support the PCN Clinical Pharmacist with PCN Workstreams
- Manage shared care protocols and liaise with Clinical Pharmacists for more complex patients
- Support initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing locally.
About usThe Practice operates from 2 sites in the North of Preston (Fulwood and Ingol) and we care for over 11,500 patients.
We have a strong clinical and administrative team in place and promote a positive working environment. We have 5 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GP's, 1 Advanced Care Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses & 3 Health Care Assistants. We assist with the training of FY2, ST2 and ST3 doctors and we also host medical students from Manchester University.
The Practice is part of and works closely and collaboratively with the Greater Preston Primary Care Network.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy
- Accredited Pharmacy Technician Course
- Professional Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
- Evidence of continued professional development
- CPPE preferable or working towards.
Desirable- Experience of working in General Practice
- Experience of using EMIS Web
