Job summaryTo be responsible for the provision of skilled, specialist nursing care to level 0 and level 1 patientswithin the multidisciplinary care team. There will be a requirement to supervise, on a day to day basis,qualified and newly qualified staff in achieving objectives.
This post is not open to student or newly qualified nurses due to the length of the role and role requirements.
Main duties of the jobA registered nurse who is able to use knowledge and skills to be able to assist and support the provisionof care. Additionally, will gain or utilise existing skills in the provision of safe and effective care to level 0 and level 1 patients. The department at North Tees is a busy unit delivering high quality care tosurgical patients. The role will involve working predominantly 12 hour shifts with full day and night rotation.

Job responsibilities- Ensure the provision of the physical and psychological environment which isconductive to providing high standards on nursing care.
- Assist in prevention and control of healthcare associated infections usingTrust strategy, in liaison with Infection Control and Prevention Team, Matronsand Ward Managers.
- Will assist in ensuring nursing staff have attended mandatory training relatingto risk management and to understand the principles associated with riskassessments.
- Responsible for the assessment of care needs, implementation andevaluation of programmes of care/set standards of care.
- Communicates effectively with patients, relatives, carers, all members oforganisation and external agencies.
- Take charge of Ward/Department when necessary.
- Abide by legal requirements and statutory rules relating to NMC codes, scopeof practice and local policies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential clinical and nursing documentation.
- Deliver health education in the prevention of illness.
- Assists in the establishment and implementation of systems which evaluatestandards of practice i.e. Saving Lives
- Participate in research as required and the application of research findingsinto clinical practice.
- Take part in the initiating of new ideas and implementation of evidencebased practice.
- To mentor and facilitate the education of staff nurses, pre registered studentnurses and Health Care Assistants.
- Takes responsibility for personal development and education anddevelopment of a Personal Development Plan and participate in staffperformance and development reviews.
- Participate in the maintenance and development of all aspects of ClinicalGovernance and Clinical Supervision.
- To use resources appropriately and have a knowledge of resourcesmanagement.
