Job summaryAn opportunity has arisen for a Peer Support Worker to join the Gender Identity Clinic based in Daventry. This is a post for an expert by experience; therefore, we are seeking to recruit someone who has lived experience of gender incongruence and undergoing gender transition.
The post will involve supporting service users of the Gender Identity Clinic via the co-production group, psychological and well-being groups and providing individual support and advice where appropriate.
The post holder will work within the multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the Principal Clinical Psychologist.
We would like to recruit someone who is enthusiastic, a team player and who has good communication skills. Experience of previous support worker roles or supporting others in distress would be an advantage but not essential.
Main duties of the job- To support the well-being of Gender Identity Clinic service users through a variety of means, including by providing individual support
- To co-facilitate social, psychoeducation and well-being groups for service users
- To work proactively to support service user engagement and involvement, primarily through the co-production working group
- To take a person-centred approach when working with service users to acknowledge and value their individual experiences and journey
- To share concerns about risk and well-being of service users with other MDT members to enable support for service users
- To work with and support the multi-disciplinary team
- To contribute to service development, evaluation and quality improvement
- To contribute to the development and the updating of written resources for service users, including information on the website and information to be distributed to service users on the waiting list
- To liaise with other statutory and voluntary services as necessary
- To contribute to teaching of other professionals about gender diversity where appropriate

Job responsibilities- To support service users attending the GIC either through one-to-one support or in groups.
- Support the various groups run by the clinic, including contributing to the development of them.
- To take a co-lead role in co-production and support service user engagement in quality improvement initiatives.
