Description

Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Acute Medicine Team as a Speciality Doctor in Acute Medicine and SDEC at Rochdale Infirmary"We are looking for an experienced doctor with full MRCP and specialist experience who can provide senior acute medical care."

This is an exciting time to join the team as you will be part of a hospital and medical department currently undergoing a period of innovation and development.

The successful candidate will be joining our innovative team of 4 Consultants within our clinical assessment unit, SDEC and our dementia specialist ward Oasis. You will work alongside other speciality doctors, foundation doctors and GP trainees, junior clinical fellows and the wider multi disciplinary team.

The post is a permanent post and therefore essential criteria must be met. These include achievement of competencies equivalent to the end of IMT2 training. Colleagues must be able to organise and prioritise their workload and support more junior members of the MDT. There will be a commitment to work days nights and weekends on a rota basis with this post.

We welcome less than full time applications and are willing to discuss flexible working arrangements. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a commitment to Acute Medicine.

If you would like to work in a dynamic, caring, inclusive and forward-thinking environment where innovation is welcomed, then we would welcome your application.

Main duties of the job
Clinical Assessment Unit The post holder will be expected to take part in the assessment and management of acute patients admitted to the CAU. This will include taking part in the daily assessment of patients, initiating management plans for these patients and performing procedures (under supervision if needed). Rochdale Infirmary does not have level 2 care therefore you will be expected to make decisions on who can be managed on this site and who may need escalating off site.

Medical SDEC As a senior clinical decision maker you will work with experienced doctors, Advanced Care Practitioners, senior nurses to screen and accept referrals from the Urgent Treatment Centre, General Practitioners, North West Ambulance Service and community services including the Rapid response Response team and Hospital at Home teams. The caseload encompasses a broad range of ambulatory care-sensitive medical conditions for which you will provide clinical assessments, formulate investigation and management plans and offer safe onward referral or discharge.

You may also assist in co-ordination the care of patients assessed by other practitioners, offering your knowledge and advice in support of the department outside usual office hours.
